This spread will show you how to: Compare and order fractions by rewriting them with a common denominator
Keywords: -Ascending -Common denominator -Denominator -Descending -Least common multiple (LCM) -Numerator
The least common multiple (LCM) is the lowest number that two (or more) numbers will divide into exactly Ascending- is going up Descending- is going down
In the fraction 2/5 The top number, 2, is the numerator The bottom number, 5, is the denominator The common denominator of 2/5 and 5/12 is 60, the LCM of 5 and 12 (the original denominators)
To compare two or more fractions: 1) Find the common denominator  2) Work out the equivalent fractions  3) Write the fractions in ascending or descending order
